You will be in such good hands with Dr. Donese and her whole team
Doctor Amie Hornaman here, AKA the thyroid fixer. And I just have to give a huge hug and thank you to Dr. Donese Worden. So I recently went through my own cancer journey where I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. And the shock, the fear, the questions that pop into your mind when you hear the big C word can be completely
overwhelming. And the information out there is completely overwhelming as well. And as I was trying to walk this journey and balance conventional therapies with what I know in my own world of functional medicine and functional therapies, I realized it's really hard to walk this path and think for yourself. I needed to rely on someone whose specialty was cancer and who would just beautifully blend functional and conventional together to get the best of both worlds.
My true belief with any type of medical condition, especially cancer, is that there is a beautiful blend that we can find between the functional world and the Western medicine world. And when we find that perfect synergy, that's really where our bodies sink and that our bodies respond to that. So in meeting with Donese, she just laid everything out in just such an understandable manner. We spent two hours together, the first meeting, going over every single one of the labs that I uploaded, from DNA reports to Dutch tests to cancer labs, pathology reports, biopsy reports. And she
took the time to really lay out my options and what I needed to do next.
And when the time came for me to make that decision, make the decision as to whether or not I was going to go through with the surgery, go through with the hysterectomy, I once again just relied on Donese to guide me. She looked at the PET scan results, and just a very loving, caring manner through our conversation said, you know, "This is concerning, and I believe you need this surgery. Let's get it out, and then we can tackle prevention on the other side. But right now, we need to take that container out that has the cancerous cells in it, and then let's press that reset
button and let's get your body shored up so that you never have to hear the C word again." And that, ultimately is my goal.
Dr. Donese, you have such knowledge, such care, such compassion that I am so grateful to have you as part of my care team before the surgery and now after, as I navigate the after. And my gratitude to you just is so expansive, and I want everyone to know this is what you do. Because that's the funny part, is that you came up to me at an event and you took my hand and you said, don't you know, this is what I do. And for some reason, I just. I was so bombarded with all the information coming at me, I didn't even think. And I'm so glad that you came up to me and you said, "I got you." And you did. You had me. So thank you for all that you've done for me, for being a partner on this journey.
And I want everyone listening, watching, to know that you will be in such good hands with Dr. Donese and her whole team.
